What a beautiful, fun filled day. Students in grades Young-5 through 8th grade, ran, jumped, kicked, and laughed the day away with their classmates at this year’s “Field Day”. Donnie Fahringer proved to be the quickest middle school student beating all others in the 50 yard dash. The Orange team finished 1st in the baton and potato sack relay. The green team out shined the others in the hula hoop passing relay. Yes, that was Mrs. Fahringer pitching away in a rousing game of kick ball.

A great time was had by all.

The 4th through 8th grade classes attended the King Tut NYC Exhibit. Ancient artifacts from the tomb of several Egyptian kings as well as the tomb of the famous King Tut are currently on display in the heart of the city. The students enjoyed lunch on the street tables of Times Square before touring the exhibit which is being held in the former New York Times Building. It was a rare opportunity to see just a small part of the beautiful items found in the tombs of the ancient Egyptian Kings.

The 4th & 5th grade were invited by Howard Johnson’s to spend an hour with the members of the Harlem Globetrotters. The basketball players took time out their busy tour to share with their students the importance of reading and how important it is to help others as we go through our busy lives.

The trotters performed their circle routine for the students, demonstrating their amazing ball handling skills. 2 of the students, Robbie Fuggi and Christian Lesperance were selected to learn a basketball trick and demonstate it to the rest of the children present.

With tremendous grace and patience the Harlem Globetrotters allowed the students time for autographs and photos with the team. The time flew by the students laughed and smiled their way through the hour.

This week the students of Ambassador in grades kindergarten through 8th grade presented their Christmas Concert at Harrogate a senior living facility in Lakewood. Many hearts were touched as the children sang of Christ’s birth and recited in English, Spanish and Latin scripture and songs of “Good News” for all. The residents of Harrogate gave a warm welcome and expressed their appreciation to the students for their visit and the Christmas cards that were presented to them by the students.

More than 60 students along with staff and parents traveled to the senior living complex in Lakewood, New Jersey. Following the performance, many residents had the opportunity to speak with the students and staff while enjoying refreshments. What a wonderful opportunity this provided the children to give of themselves to others.

What a blessing it is to have one of our alumni on staff this year in the roll of computer teacher for students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade.

A special treat for one of the middle school classes is the opportunity to learn the C++ programming language. C++ is one of the more commonly used computer languages in use today. Students will earn the basics of writing, compiling and running their own programs in the C++ language. They will be using tools such as Visual C++ 2008 to aid them in their understanding of a well written computer program, as well as a number of assignments and projects geared toward education.

Upon completion, students will have a much deeper understanding of the inner workings of not only a computer program, but also of a computer as a whole, improving their computer literacy and knowing why computers work the way they do.

As the computer is now an integral part of our lives, the knowledge they attain will be an invaluable asset to their education.
